Enterprise class KVM-over-IP in
a palm-sized form factor
Dominion KX101 is a next-generation, enterprise-class
KVM-over-IP device that eliminates the blocking factor inherent in switched
KVM architectures. It provides anytime, anywhere access and BIOS-level
control of a single server, via a dedicated IP address. The Dominion KX101
shrinks all the performance and security features of Raritan's industry-leading
remote KVM access and control technology into a ”zero-U” single-port
density form factor. Multiple KX101s can be installed in a data center
to provide fully non-blocked, switchless access by any user to any server.
Multiple KX101s also can be deployed at multiple remote locations to provide
anytime, anywhere, non-blocked access to any device in a company's distributed
infrastructure. All of the KX101s and many other devices, including Raritan’s
Dominion KX, Dominion SX, Paragon II and HP iLO/RILOE, can be centrally
managed through a single IP address, with Raritan's CommandCenter®
Secure Gateway. Palm-sized and highly portable, the Dominion KX101 can
be mounted vertically or horizontally on the side of a rack, affixed to
any convenient surface with Velcro® or simply hung from the back of
the target device by its cable. In addition, its Powerover- Ethernet (PoE)
capability can eliminate the need for a separate power supply and cabling.
Hardware Features
Multiple power options: Power over Ethernet (Mid
Span Power Insertion or Signal Pair Power Insertion) and AC/DC power adapter.
The serial Admin console port provides an efficient way for the user to
conduct configuration and diagnostics of the KX101, as well as, recover
the factory default configuration.
Versatile rack mounting bracket for horizontal mounting, accommodating
U size target servers, or vertical unit mounting on either side of the
rack.
Enables quick installation of Dominion KX101 to the target server via
a video connection and an integrated USB or PS2, keyboard and mouse "pigtail"
attachment.
On most Operating Systems the KX101 keyboard and mouse connections can
be hot plugged. Additionally, KX101 can be swapped while the target server
is still on, thus minimizing server downtime.
With embedded Keyboard and Mouse emulation (KME) circuitry, the server
will boot up properly while the KX101 is attached to it, even if the KX101
does not have power.
Connectivity Features
Provides an always available, user assigned, KVM-over-IP
port to allow unblocked access to a target server.
Extends Raritan's superior KVM Interface Module (KIM) video compression
circuitry, allowing users to access Dominion KX101 from anywhere on the
network (LAN, WAN, Internet), to troubleshoot, reconfigure, reboot and
conduct overall server maintenance remotely.

Client Access and Control
KX Manager provides the user with full capability
of configuring the KX101 after it is connected to the network.
Raritan Remote Client (RRC) provides a comprehensive management software
suite for a user to control and configure the KX101 and access the target
KVM on Windows OS.
Raritan's Java based Multi-Platform Client (MPC) enables access to a wide
variety of operating systems including Linux, Sun/Solaris and Macintosh.
Raritan's client software is automatically downloaded from the KX101;
eliminating the need to install "client" software on each user
desktop.
Client software supports major Web browsers including; Internet Explorer,
Mozilla Firefox, Netscape and Safari (Macintosh).
Utilizes a superior mouse synchronization method for Windows OS that eliminates
periodic, manual or automatic mouse synchronization
Software Features
KX101 is a completely self-contained system (i.e.
an appliance) requiring minimal configuration for quick and easy target
access.
Improves on Raritan's award-winning KVM-over-IP technology with new 15-bit
color support (32,000 colors), enabling higher video quality over the
network.
Up to 8 users can remotely access the same server for teamed troubleshooting.
In auto detection mode video performance is automatically configured to
match the available network bandwidth. Bandwidth may be configured manually,
as well.
Security Features
Dominion KX101 securely encrypts the video stream
in addition to keyboard and mouse data.
Integrates with industry-standard RADIUS and Active Directory servers
by using RADIUS and LDAP protocols, respectively. This allows KX101 to
authenticate users from existing accounts.
Supports remote authentication. Administrators can define users and groups
with customizable administration and access permissions.
Video Resolution
Provides scalable resolutions as configured by
operating systems and up to a maximum of 1600X1200 at 60Hz.
Management Features
Administrators can perform all management, administration,
and configuration operations via a simple graphical user interface, from
the convenience of their desktop.
Features complete CommandCenter integration, allowing enterprise users
to consolidate all Dominion devices into a single logical system, with
a single IP address and single management interface.
